The National Program for Happiness & Wellbeing, in co-operation with the Ministry of Education, has launched the network of 'Positive Schools', a national network offering membership to government and private schools interested in consolidating positive education based on wellbeing of their students and teachers.

Aimed at adding wellbeing to education to help students build personal and positive skills in parallel with their academic and futuristic skills, the network features a flexible mechanism that helps the participating schools implement positive education and wellbeing concepts. The network also provides schools with optional consultations through positive education and wellbeing experts to enable them to achieve impressive results. Additionally, the network offers a range of financial grants to support some of the initiatives implemented by schools.

Distinguished schools are given a positive school mark, a sign that highlights their efforts in positive education and wellbeing.

Experiment

The network has been launched based on an experiment that the program and the ministry conducted last year through applying positive education concepts to 10 schools. The experiment achieved impressive results including higher academic attainment, higher standards of health for students and lower absenteeism. As a result of the experiment, students and their families also showed increasing interest in planning for the future while extensive interaction between schools and families was recorded.
