Overview
- The Elite Stream is considered as one of the four Streams provided by the MoE. It is a distinguished first-class Academic Stream which was launched in 2016 in cooperation with the American College Board to create a competitive educational environment for creative and outstanding students.
- The Stream targets Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 students starting from Grade 5 up to Grade 12 for both boys and girls.
- The Elite Stream aims to provide unique educational opportunities for distinguished and outstanding Emirati students to join the best local and international universities.
- Talented teachers from around the world have been brought into the country to deliver the lessons and support the students in achieving the best grades. We will ensure that these students reach their highest educational potential and flourish within a knowledge-based economy, in line with the UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda.
Elite Stream in numbers
- The Elite Stream was officially launched in the 2016/2017 Academic year, targeting 1000 students in Grade 7 only.
- The Stream was expanded during the following years until this current Academic year 2020/2021 to include all students of Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 from Grade 5 to Grade 12.
- The Elite Stream currently, in the 2020/2021 Academic year, includes more than 11,000 Emirati students across the country.
- The Elite Stream is currently available in the 2020/2021 Academic year in 89 boys and girls schools distributed over all the seven emirates.
CURRICULUM
- The curriculum of the Elite Stream focuses on mathematics and science. It is supported by several exercises, together with laboratory experiments to enhance analytical and logical thinking skills as well as practical problem-solving.
- Students in the Elite Stream study Maths, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, DT, CS and CDI in English.
- The curriculum of Math and Science subjects follows the internationally recognized program known as "Advanced Placement", which is an advanced curriculum from the academic side and includes many challenges of a high level. Therefore, students study these subjects extensively and in-depth to fulfil the program requirements and criteria.
- Students in the Elite Stream must do the AP exams for Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which is a test that measures students' mastery of the curricula under the "Advanced Placement" ceiling.
- The curriculum of the Stream prepares national students for undergraduate and post-graduate studies, not only to pass the foundational year but also to achieve the highest scores among their peers.
The educational environment for students of the Stream:
- The Ministry of Education provides an exemplary learning environment for Elite Stream students to develop and refine their scientific and practical skills, and to meet the requirements and standards of the Stream.
- Classrooms are equipped with modern technology devices and resources such as smart boards, audio-visual aids and portable devices for each student.
- Modern scientific laboratories were provided with all the required resources for all the relevant materials of the Stream to allow students to practice all the required activities and to give them opportunities for exploration, research, development, and innovation.
- The teachers of Elite Stream are considered highly qualified and specialized. They are periodically trained to deal with the Stream's curriculum and the appropriate educational strategies for these curricula to ensure that they are applied with the correct mechanism.
Criteria
- UAE Citizenship or the child of an Emirati mother.
- Completed EmSAT exam in Arabic, English, Maths and Science.
- 80% in Mathematics, Science, and English in Grades 4-7.
- 90% in Mathematics, Science, and English in Grade 8.
- Entry Test and Interview
- The specialized committee of accepting students will review the records and results in previous academic years of students applying for the Stream and will study each case individually.
