The 100-student conclave organized by the Ministry of Education, on the sidelines of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Festival, resulted in ten creative initiatives that reflect the advanced levels of innovative and pioneering thinking attained by the UAE school students. The students who participated in the conclave developed and intensified their ideas to produce initiatives that are beneficial to them and to the members of society.
The conclave discussed 10 main themes, namely artificial intelligence, food security, the Year of Zayed, electronic awareness, advanced skills, international and national tests, school clubs, media culture, positive environment and empowering people with special needs. Each participating team will launch an initiative that will focus on one theme and define its mechanism and how to make use of it.
The students were inspired with some of their initiatives by the Year of Zayed. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul in peace, was a source of inspiration to unleash their cognitive imagination and produce creative initiatives that provide the community with creative and sound practices and solutions.
"The ‘Barza Basma Zayed” or Majlis of Zayed Smile" is an initiative launched by the participating students as part of the theme of "Positive Environment" in the student conclave. The initiative narrates the story of the founding father and this positive energy that resonated among all members of the UAE community. It has produced a pioneering society that abounds with tolerance and constructive cultural diversity. The students stated that their initiative was launched on the occasion of the Year of Zayed and that it aims to attract and implant positivity in the UAE schools.
The team of the Year of Zayed launched the “Zayed Heritage” Initiative, a mobile local and international exhibition with several different sections that highlight the character and achievements of Zayed, the father and the man. The exhibition aims to highlight the cultural, historical, literary and humanitarian heritage bequeathed to us by the founding father. The exhibition is organized by school students, who will design, write and display the content within the UAE and abroad.
Students participating in the Media Culture theme launched the "stu live" initiative, a smart platform that brings together students from all over the world through a live broadcast to exchange scientific experience and to convey ideas and information through which initiatives are launched to educate, and raise awareness in, society.
In the “Artificial Intelligence” theme, the students designed the ‘space-z’ initiative, an awareness initiative that includes all segments of society and explains the concept of artificial intelligence and its importance in our time. The initiative is divided into three stages: The first is an ‘introductory festival’ that clarifies the concept of artificial intelligence through interactive events and lectures that include all segments of the community, so that the visitors of the festival experience the artificial intelligence experience. The second stage is based on the launch of a contest for the best design of the robot which works through artificial intelligence technology. It should simulate the robot that will accompany Hope Probe of in its Mars Mission. The third phase is the return of the robot to Planet Earth and analysis of the data obtained during the trip to Mars in cooperation with international companies.
As part of the “Food Security” theme, the students developed an initiative called ‘Robotic Shadow’, which is an electronic card containing a student's information, such as weight, height, calorie content and health status. Based on this, the robot reads the information on the card and selects the healthy meal suitable for him / her.
The students also developed “an electronic awareness” initiative, which is a social educational platform aimed at the dissemination of electronic awareness by simulating electronic positions through internet networks. This platform will be in public places, such as malls and others. A person can log on the WiFi network located in public places and receive messages and awareness tips as a way of spreading electronic awareness among all groups of society.
Empowerment of People with Special Needs
“Stars of the People of Special Needs” is an initiative launched by the ‘the Empowerment of People with Special Needs’ team. It aims to empower people with special needs by providing the required standards for their needs in buildings, institutions and all surrounding environments in order to create a comfortable environment that imbue them with happiness. Under this initiative, graduates are trained as volunteers to evaluate buildings and their suitability to serve the target group.
International Tests
The students presented an initiative entitled "Shellah", which aims for students to help each other improve their performance in national and international tests. This initiative includes several projects such as the electronic platform ‘Shella’, a YouTube channel ‘Shellati’, the National and International Tests Cup, the Student Parliament for National and International Tests, and the global student camp ‘the Forefront Emirates".
School Clubs
The “innovative Product" initiative of the "school clubs" team in the student concave is an electronic platform for school clubs from different schools. It helps students communicate with other clubs to discuss the works or products of school clubs. The program is used to display the schedules of competitions that are circulated to clubs and the needs of students, to receive assistance from institutions, and to share ideas and suggestions with concerned teachers and students. The participants can also present their innovations.
Advanced Skills
In order to enhance the skills of the UAE school students, the participants in the concave proposed, as part of “the Advanced Skills” theme, designing an approach called "Future Approach" to enhance students' skills using advanced tools, such as the virtual reality technique and electronic platform, which include modern programs and tools to produce a creative and innovative generation.
