HE Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan,
Minister of Tolerance, and HE Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, have launched a
joint project titled 'In the Footsteps of Zayed' in the presence of top
ministerial officials.
The project aims
to strengthen the values of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, acceptance,
respect and positive communication between students of all grades and levels
across public and private schools. It also aims to adopt plans and initiatives
to promote communication between both types of schools so that the
tolerance-related values and principles that students are taught will turn into
practice on the ground through the joint student activities of both public and
private schools.
This was announced
during Sheikh Nahyam's visit to Ahmed Bin Zayed School in Al Ain, where he was
received by HE Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, Marwan Al Sawaleh,
Under-secretary of Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs, Afra Al Sabri
from Tolerance Minister's Office, as well as top ministerial officials,
students' parents and community representatives.
Sheikh Nahyan gave
a speech at the school’s theatre in which he underscored the importance of
promoting the values of tolerance in schools, particularly among students, noting
that children at this stage of their lives are quite prepared to accept tolerance-related
values. Accompanied by Al Hammadi, Sheikh Nahyan then toured an exhibition held
at the school and divided into a number of stations.
Meanwhile, the
Supreme Joint Committee between both ministries held its first meeting at the
school in the presence of Sheikh Nahyan and Al Hammadi to set up the main bases
of the joint project and the plans to be implemented in the upcoming stage. The
project will be implemented from the current semester in Abu Dhabi and will then
progress to Dubai, Fujairah and the other emirates.
