The National Education Charter is the supreme reference document for education in the UAE, defining the direction of the education sector and the profile of the learner. It sets out the national goals of education, along with the pillars of national identity, traits, and skills to be embedded across the education system, supporting an education that reinforces national identity and builds the future skills of every learner.
The Charter was signed by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, together with Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates, on Emirati Day for Education in February 2026, affirming that education in the UAE is a shared national responsibility to which all government entities and sectors contribute.
The National Education Charter serves as a key reference for guiding educational practice and supporting the objectives of the UAE education system.
