List of licensed Institutions in UAE

The Ministry of Education emphasizes the necessity for students to register in the accredited higher education institutions and programs to ensure the attestation of their qualifications and the recognition by the employers

The Ministry of Education stressed that students wishing to register in higher education institutions within the UAE must verify that the institution is licensed by the Ministry, and the selected specialization is accredited by the Ministry to be sure that the obtained qualification will be attested by the Ministry.

The Ministry of Education clarified that its academic accreditation commission is in charge of licensing the institutions and periodically evaluating their programs, by external evaluation teams to ensure that the offered educational programs are authentic and in line with international standards, to ensure comprehensive quality standards.

In this context, HE Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Mualla, the Undersecretary for Higher Education Academic Affairs explained that the student's registration in an academic program accredited by the Ministry ensures the Ministry's attestation of the degree obtained by the student after graduation. It is a prerequisite by the federal institutions and most of the local recruitment agencies to work for them or to take the attested degree as a basis for promotion within the career ladder, as well as scholarships abroad to obtain higher degrees.

He warned of what has recently emerged through the media, and social media networks, namely the meetings of officials of the higher education institutions branches based in the UAE without a license from the Ministry, noting that although the officials in these institutions confirm to the students that the qualifications are issued by the parent institution in Europe, the United States of America or other countries, such qualifications are not recognized within the UAE if the branch of the institution operates within the UAE without a license from the Ministry.

He also warned of the emergence of the phenomenon of purchasing degrees through websites, stressing that these scientific qualifications are fake and will not be attested or considered for equivalence. Those who try to obtain such degrees will lose money and face legal accountability.

He stressed that the students wishing to study in universities abroad, should have a non-objection letter issued by the Ministry to study in these universities to make sure that their qualifications are recognized for equivalence after their graduation.

The Undersecretary pointed out that the accreditation process of educational programs in higher education institutions licensed by the Ministry is subject to scientific standards that are considered by the international prominent institutions. These standards include the objectives of the program, its educational outputs, the study plan, the contents of its courses, the educational environment in which it is presented, the scientific and educational facilities and learning resources. In addition to the efficiency of faculty members, their educational levels, other teaching methods and performance evaluation, the extent of need for the program and its relevance to the needs of the labor market. The Ministry also monitors the compliance of licensed educational institutions with quality standards and takes the necessary measures towards institutions or programs that are in violation of these standards, which will be suspended until they are re-evaluated to ensure that their commitments are met and that the violations are eliminated.
