The UAE is hosting the 19th Conference of Arab Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which is organised by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO).

The conference aims to enhance Arab cooperation in the area of higher education and scientific research, to achieve development, prosperity, and sustainability of knowledge and technological advancement.
It is worth mentioning that the MoE participated in the 18th conference, which had been hosted by Algeria from 26 to 28 December last year, with a delegation presided by H.E. Dr. Hamad Al Yahyai, MoE Assistant Undersecretary of Curriculum Sector.
The Algeria Conference made a number of recommendations that included calling on the ALECSO to cooperate with the UAE to make use of its experience in smart learning system, discussing the mechanisms for enhancing the performance of university and research institutions in the Arab world, and adopting a pilot project on the latest findings of the smart learning system, which had been developed since 2010.
The recommendations also stressed unifying research and academic efforts among Arab universities, developing or updating their national frameworks for qualifications, keeping pace with the changes to benefit from them in promoting scientific research in the areas of social and human sciences. The recommendations also called on focusing on, disseminating, and making available applied research and linking it to the needs of the public and private economic and social sectors. Finally, the conference recommended supporting the major qualitative projects. implemented by the ALECSO in the areas of Artificial Intelligence localization and the Arab classification of universities.
H.E. Dr. Hamad Al-Yahyai sent an open invitation to all organizations and their members to visit the UAE to see its achievements. He pointed out that the UAE had already implemented the recommendations of the 17th and 18th conferences, which would allow the countries of the region to copy its wide experience in reforming the education outcome, with the adoption and support of the wise leadership.
H.E. Al-Yahyai has met H.E. Abdelbaki Benziane, the Algerian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on the sidelines of the conference. The two parties discussed cooperation in the areas of scientific research, technology, and exchanging visits.
The UAE’s delegation has also met the Secretary-General of the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Director of the University of Algiers. The delegation has also visited the art exhibition, held on the sidelines of the conference, and the University of Algiers.
H.E. Al-Yahyai said that the UAE was racing against time and taking rapid steps to achieve the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071, under the directives of the wise leadership. He added that the UAE was seeking to establish all the aspects of prosperity and development to achieve the welfare of the future generations and foresee the future of education, knowledge, innovation, and digital and technological development.
His Excellency stressed that hosting the 19th edition of the conference would enhance the UAE’s stature at the regional and international levels. He added that the event served as an important platform for dialogue, consultation, and cooperation between the Arab states to develop the higher education and scientific research systems and support the projects implemented by the ALECSO to boost the joint Arab work in the areas of education, culture, and sciences.
