In Collaboration with the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, MOE Launches the UAE School Summer Program

In collaboration with the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, the UAE school summer program has been launched today in 12 places across the state in the context of ‘My Country's Summer Program’. The program offers a variety of activities that mimic the students' tendencies in a number of vital areas. Moreover, “Goodness is in our Children” has been launched in the context of the program. The program includes five humanitarian initiatives that imply the noble and high values of “The Year of Giving”.
His Excellency Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, said that the UAE School Summer Program, launched by the MOE in cooperation with the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare in the context of the "My Country’s Summer" program, is an opportunity for students to develop new skills, experiences and abilities that will motivate them to become effective leaders in their communities. The program consists of selected activities and events that imply a wide range of skills and forms of knowledge presented in a favorite manner that appeal to the students.
Al Hammadi stated that the MOE is keen to strengthen its social partnerships with various national institutions and agencies that are concerned with youth, and with opening up the horizons of innovation, thinking and development of the youth skills and creative qualities. He pointed out that this program is launched in cooperation with the General Authority of Sport and Youth and thus contributes to the crystallization of new ideas and activities that serve in adding more value to the students’ lives, particularly during vacations, in which we seek to provide students with the opportunity to put their energies into favorite activities, develop their perceptions and instill positive values in themselves.
HE Al Hammadi mentioned that the MOE makes every effort to achieve integration and comprehensiveness through establishing international educational standards and practices across MOE various sectors, including the sector of activities and care. Such efforts contribute to attaining the expected objectives of the programs, targeting students as well as teachers. Furthermore, the MOE opens up effective channels with youth institutions to achieve the integration of roles, which leads to the ultimate return of fully undertaking the educational mission.
HE Al Hammadi said that the MOE gives special care to cultural and constructional aspects, awareness and sports, employing deliberated educational plans which take into account the importance of improving students' physical, mental, intellectual and cognitive skills, and of developing the students’ personal qualities depending on a range of systematic and unsystematic activities. Such activities follow suit of the students’ tendencies, indulge their passion for knowledge and allow them to have a holistic intellectual approach where the theoretical and practical aspects are integrated into a stimulating environment that encourages students to engage in different learning environments.
HE Al Hammadi added that the MOE pursues to strengthen MOE’s partnerships and to take part in the various programs and events that support our students, and stimulate their creativity and innovation. He pointed out that My Country's Summer Program, organized by the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare in which 1400 students participate, unleashes our students’ powers and allows them to have the best use of the school vacations.
He referred to the significance of having a variety of student-centered events and programs that allow the identification of their tendencies and skills; to further address, develop and support them based on well-defined educational standards. Such standards are meant to achieve their goals serving the development of the students’ potentials and efficiencies in different fields, a matter which reflects positively on their academic achievement.
Dr. Amna Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for Care and Activities Sector acknowledged the variety of proceedings held in the framework of UAE School Summer Program under "My Country's Summer” Program, praising the role of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare.
She said that the program stimulates various students’ interests and desires, establishes the same in the students’ minds, and dedicates to them a set of vital skills and values through participating in the sporting, cultural and entertaining events of the program.
She stated that the events taking place in the context of My Country's Summer Program integrate with the whole range of MOE’s activities and programs which are concerned with improving the students’ personalities, providing them with a set of academic research tools, and critical and analytical thinking skills. She added that such activities and programs provide the students with the means to work on teams, and define missions and outputs of any projects.
Dr. Amna said that the students will join twelve centers around the various state regions, referring to the weekly training timeline set by the MOE, which involves students in nine different programs: robot programs, technological programs, cultural, academic and entertaining journeys, digital design programs, life skills (e.g. manufacturing and building) programs, fine arts programs, theatrical performance, speech skills learning and self- discovery education.
She said “the training centers are distributed around the state on a geographical distribution basis, to enable the students in the cities as well as in the distant regions to join them and make the best use of the programs they offer”.
She drew the attendants’ attention to the fact that these programs contribute effectively to the building of students’ integrated personalities and keep up with their aspirations, through offering them a range of the up-to-date academic instruments while satisfying their passion for knowledge based on high standards.
Humanitarian initiatives that summarize the Year of Giving
She highlighted that MOE launches the “Goodness in our Children” initiative in synchronization with the UAE School Summer Program under My Country's Summer Program. The “Goodness in our Children” consists of five initiatives which target the different categories that need support such as the people of determination (special needs), the elderly, chaste families and others. Such initiatives are a touch of goodness. They include the Generations for Goodness Initiative and the Chaste Families Initiative, introduced in cooperation with the Food Bank and the Goodness Gardens Initiative, undertaken in collaboration with profitable entities and centers.
She stated that the “Goodness is in our Children” Project implies noble and humanitarian values, which the MOE pursues to foster through the various project programs. These values embody and represent the humanitarian core and mission of the Year of Giving.
