HE Hussain Bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, has
approved eight new categories for the 2019 edition of the 'Founding Leader
Award' with the aim of enriching the educational movement in the UAE and
streamlining the role of all entities concerned with the education system. The
decision is aimed at celebrating people of high qualifications and innovative ideas
and enabling them to cover all the elements of the educational field so that
their unique values and practices are made an example to follow and implemented
on the ground in such a manner that reflects positively on the UAE education
system.

The new categories cover all components of the education system
from early childhood through to higher education and are aimed at consolidating
the thinking of the founding leader the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan,
may Allah rest his soul, in all aspects of education work with a view to
highlighting his unique human and cultural values and mission and adopting his
timeless thinking, which focused on building human resources and arming them
with the best knowledge and skills, he said.
The new categories of the award include the best team implementing National
Agenda indicators, distinguished nursery, best parents’ council, best tolerance
initiative, best university administrative officer, best university professor
in national universities, best scholarship holding student and outstanding research.
These will be added to the existing categories of the award; namely, the
distinguished sector, the outstanding management/education council, the distinguished
school and the special honor.

This was announced during a workshop organized by the award’s
administration at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education in Dubai as
part of a series of awareness workshops about the categories and criteria of
the award. The workshop was attended by HE Jameela Al Muhairi, Minister of
State for Public Education, HE Fawzia Gharib, Assistant Undersecretary for the
School Operations Sector, HE Dr. Hamad Al Yahyai, Assistant Undersecretary of
Curriculum and Assessment Sector, and HE Mattar Al Hamli, Assistant Undersecretary
of Support Services Sector. It was also attended by a number of education
leaders and the award’s team.
In her discourse, Al Muhairi stressed the necessity for the award
to contribute, through its criteria, to achieving the goals of the National
Agenda related to education, by promoting actual co-operation and integration among
all the ministry’s sectors with a view to achieving the desired results. She
underscored the need to further streamline and develop the self-evaluation
system in all the ministry’s sectors and highlight its distinguished projects
in a bid to motivate all educational personnel to provide their best
educational experiences, know-how and applications.

The award aims at consolidating the thinking and visions of the late
founding leader Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah rest his soul,
developing the current systems in the Ministry of Education related to the
categories of the award and fulfilling the ministry’s vision and strategy emanating
from the UAE National Agenda. It also aims at highlighting the leading national
competencies of competitive empowerment features, upgrading the performance of
all personnel of public and higher education and disseminating the practical
positivity principles, which the founding leader called for in order to bring
happiness to all the ministry members.

Salem Al Qarni,, Advisor to the Minister of Education, said the criteria
of the award are in line with the leading criteria of government excellence and
help improve the government practices and applications in all sectors with a
view to fulfilling the wise leadership’s aspirations for sustainable
development and modernization of all aspects of government work.
In the same context, the award held a meeting for its board, which
included the 2018 winners of all categories of the award, to discuss ways to convey
their experiences and ideas in a systematic and elaborate manner to all education
cadres with the aim of achieving the goal of the award as embodied in establishing
a distinguished innovation-based educational thinking.
