At the beginning of the current
academic year, the Ministry of Education (MoE) inaugurated the Science and Food
Safety Academy (SFSA) in four schools in Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah (Al
Samaliya School for Boys and Al Samha School for Girls in Abu Dhabi and Musa
Bin Nusair Primary School for Boys and Al Dheet Primary school for Girls in Ras
Al Khaimah). As part of its future plan, the SFSA seeks to attract 500 students
during the next few years in line with the MoE’s directives aimed at empowering
students in many specialized fields closely related to the UAE’s agenda and its
future forward-looking plans.
The inauguration of the SFSA comes
as part of the MoE’s bid to keep pace with the plans and aspirations of the UAE
government, which has paid considerable attention to this vital sector in order
to achieve its future strategic plans related to the training of national
cadres specialized in the field of food. This will also contribute to enriching
the UAE education system by giving students multiple academic options that meet
their aspirations and are consistent with their skills.
In addition to their general stream,
the students joining the SFSA will study the basic sciences related to food and
nutrition, which, in turn, help them understand how the various elements are
interrelated. They will also study the processes concerned with food
production, which help to develop new and distinct products.
